The Jazz Professor

Watch the Director's Cut

The Concept

Wasatch Academy is regarded as one of the finest collegiate prep schools in the country and is a richly diverse community with students from over 30 nations. In 2019, they opened up their contemporary school of music helmed by Caleb Chapman. To commemorate the opening of the new program, we created a film highlighting Caleb’s unique journey to create one of the most successful jazz ensemble groups of all time.

The Film

In 1998, Grammy-nominated saxophone player Caleb Chapman opened The Soundhouse in the small town of American Fork, Utah. His jazz ensemble group—composed of musicians ages 12-18—is regarded as one of the finest in the world, playing internationally and even headlining a performance at the famed Carnegie Hall. This is the story of how a young musician found his calling as an educator and revolutionized the world of music education.
